As we all known, wedding planning is the base for every single wedding. There are many parts involved in order to set up a perfect wedding. Some of the basic elements include venue, photographer, cinematographer, floral design, and wedding dress etc. It would be easier if you have a wedding planner to assist you on everything related to your wedding. We talked to Sarah, the founder of Wedding Planner Institute of Canada, and hopefully this interview can educate you a little more about wedding planning.
Sarah: Tell us a bit about yourself and WPIC
Danielle: We are the only license wedding coordinator certification institute in Canada since 2003. We have more than 7000 members worldwide and we also go onsite to train at different resorts.
Sarah: Where do you regularly provide the training courses?
Danielle: We hold training courses all over Canada, including all the major cities across Canada. In addition, we also have onsite classes in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Trinidad, Antigua, and even in Bahamas.
Sarah: How often do you have the training courses?
Danielle: There are usually 2 to 3 courses per month in various locations, and 3 times a year in total for Toronto.
Sarah: Dou you guys offer networking events? And how often?
Danielle: We try to have it once every two months so we can stay connected with outer world.
Sarah: Being a full service event planning company, how does photography and cinematography factor into your wedding planning process?
Danielle: Both of them are very important part for sure. Beyond the marriage, last thing to remember is photo. It is very important to have relationship with experienced photographer so they can help you taking care of all the photos part. For videography, we encourage the client to advise photographer because they normally have someone been working with for a long time. It would be easier if both of them know each other and ensure the photos turn out match client’s requirements. We typically let the professionals do their work. However, we recommend clients to choose photographer they are most comfortable working with because they might be sharing personal information with the photographers too.
Sarah: Do you have any preference on hiring studios crew or freelance photographers?
Danielle: We will leave the client to decide for this question. But we suggest to go with studios more than freelance photographer, as the studio is much more reliable. They will have the whole crew and has the set up if clients would like some indoor shooting.
Sarah: Scheduling a wedding day in a proper and efficient way is one of the biggest tasks. What do you want the photographers and couples know about wedding day timelines?
Danielle: I wish couples would know that they need more time for photography, cuz photography is so important on such a big day. If a couple could take their couple photos before ceremony that would be wonderful, as we will have more time for the photo session with the guests. If the photo time is only between ceremony and reception, then it isn’t enough. For photographer, I would like them to know where they gonna work with them, and we also want them to have great photos, so if we can work together. We gonna get shortlist for client, so we can make it much more efficient. For photographers don’t be afraid to be work with wedding coordinator.
Sarah: As a wedding industry influencer, what are some photo worthy trends in wedding décor or design you are seeing this year?
Danielle: Fun aspect. I can see a new design trend specially on the cakes. I think a lot of greenery is in the trend right now as people care about their health now. There are also more interesting locations in Toronto for photo shooting now so this is a different aspect comparing to before. The Centre piece getting lower. A lot of hanging things as decoration as well.
Sarah: We have worked on so many beautiful weddings together. What attract you and your clients to A.Vision Studios each year?
Danielle: Easy going, so easy to work with. Professional, very accommodating, involve with the community, and my clients love your style!
We have been working with WPIC for many times and quite familiar with each other. The whole interview went very well and we want to show you exactly what we talked about so you can have something to refer back to in the future.
