I’m Esther, the lead artist at Avision Studios. Welcome to my home away from home! My background in photography started with my degree in graphic design. After graduation, I found myself attracted to commercial product design. This interest led me to pursue a post-bach certification in photography. My training and experience in commercial photography have made me a stickler for finding the perfect light! I love natural light, but I also love knowing I can create the most effective light no matter what situation comes my way; that is where our beautiful studio comes in!
I, along with my partners, built our studio space from the ground up! This was both hard, and thrilling! Similar to graphic design, I was able to see my concept grow into a finished product that was just as I envisioned it!
We built many of our studio accents by hand, like our vanity mirrors in the dressing area!
Like most artists, I love to surround my self with beauty, as I find it both inspiring and comforting. You will always find fresh flowers welcoming you when you stop by the studio
Probably one of my favorite features is our decor, hand selected from Restoration Hardware. I am a tremendous fan of the architectural elements in their design, and I love how RH does this with a classic touch. It is very representative of how we approach our wedding work as well. Classic with a hint of modern design and editorial polish!
Shout out to one of my favorite pieces we have collected – this vintage fire extinguisher! This baby is a beast, so he usually serves as a door stopper at the shop!
A rowing machine? Not just any rowing machine! This machine is the same one from House of Cards (anyone else obsessed with that show?!) – it might seem like a strange addition to a photography studio, but after long sessions at the computer editing, this piece of equipment is vital to keeping me limber and ready for the next marathon of photo retouching! I told you this was my home away from home!
I It has taken me a few years to collect the perfect selection of gear to achieve my fine-art editorial style. Investing in the right tools ensures I have whatever is needed to meet the jobsam given with confidence. Low available light in that romantic church? No problem! Amazing sunset at the golf course? I’ve got this! I don’t have every lens out there, but what I do own is the best quality available to achieve my style.
Did you know that photography means to draw with light?
Many photographers shy away from off camera lighting. You’ll often hear the phrase, “I am a natural light photographer!” – There is nothing wrong with preferring natural light, but I pride myself on being able to draw with all the tools available to me. Because of this, I have extensively studied lighting patterns and editorial studio lighting. You can be confident that no matter what style of photography you are looking for, I have all that is needed to create art you will love for years to come!
